TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Constellation Theatre Company is seeking a Technical Director for its upcoming season. The TD position is a contract position and is not full time. Constellation will be producing three exciting shows at Source -- located at 1835 14th St NW, Washington DC: Women Beware Women by Thomas Middleton, October 14 - November 15; On the Razzle by Tom Stoppard, February 3 - March 7; The Green Bird by Carlo Gozzi, May 5 – June 5.

Responsibilities include:
• Drafting all Technical Drawings
• Providing a Scenic Cost Out
• Building all scenery (with the assistance of a Master Carpenter)
• Ordering supplies
• Hiring Overhire
• Supervising Overhire Crews
• Loading-in
• Addressing all notes that arise during technical rehearsals and previews.
• Striking and storing scenery at the end of the run

Successful candidate should have a valid drivers’ license, must be able to work full time for 5 consecutive weeks, must have reliable transportation, can drive a truck, has the ability to lift 50 lbs. on a continuous basis, ability to climb ladders and work in high places.

The Technical Director would be employed the following dates:

Women Beware Women: September 13 – October 16
On the Razzle: January 3 – February 5
The Green Bird: April 4 – May 7

The ideal candidate would be available for all of the above dates. Constellation is interested in hearing from all qualified candidates as we may be unable to find a candidate who can commit to all shows. (In other words, we may have to hire multiple TDs this season).
